I can summarize who I am in three words: fun, hyper and crazy.

Modelling was something i always wanted to know since i was a little girl. I loved dressing up and posing for camera. You know the part where you feel you are a celebrity kinda thing. So when I moved to Lahore i was approached by 'Toni n Guy' and from there i got recognized.
Any inspiration(model)?
Lets just say i inspired myself.
What is fashion for you?
Fashion for me is anything that is comfortable, classy and makes you look and feel good about yourself. There is a fine difference between being fashionable and provocative.

Fashion is not constant. We have a different style different year.It just keeps getting better and bigger.

Mehreen Chaudhry (Interview)

Name: Mehreen Chaudhry
Nickname: Mahi
DOB: 22/06/1991
Tell a bit about yourself Mehreen?
I am very simple and straight forward girl.
How did you get in this field of modeling?
I Had a passion of modeling and acting since my childhood, i did not decide to join showbiz as a profession, one day i saw an add on a website they needed models for there upcoming fashion show,i sent my pics to them and they called me for auditions and unfortunately i got selected and it was a wonderful experience for me, after my first show I decided to join this field as a profession, and now I am on my way with a lot of dreams to get more and more success in this field.
Any inspiration(model)?
Mehreen Syed is my inspiration.
What is fashion for you?
For me the importance of style and fashion in today's society is much underrated. The way that you look and dress is the first impression that people have of you.In order to give people a good first impression, you need to be dressed in a way that suites your style and does not look sloppy or messy, but one that does compliment you. Personal style is a great way to express who you are and what you stand for.You can have fun with your own fashion statement but you should try and shy away from being too bold or it will make your outfit look like a costume.

Muhammad Ali (Interview)

Name: Muhammad Ali
Nikname: Bao (I know its weird)
DOB: 1rst May, 1996
Tell us something about yourself?
The name's Ali, recently completed my O ' levels. I've been singing since I can remember. The only thing that appeals to me when I'm melancholic is a hot cup of coffee and my guitar. I love all sorts of creativity; music, art etc. My dream is to reach to a position where it would be hard for me to listen to my own voice while singing. ( Heavy crowd cheering.)

Maliha Abbas (Interview)

Name: Maliha Abbas
Nickname: Mala
DOB: 11/11/1995
Favorite quote: Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.
Inspirations: No one inspires me.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I am a self-taught artist and a photographer. Art and photography is in my blood I guess because my father is a fantastic artist and photographer even though he is not an artist or a photographer by profession. I am a positive person and I believe no one needs a teacher for anything! I mean think about it, everything was created by someone who didnt had a teacher to teach em and thats why i try to figure out things on my own. Allah has blessed us with that ability.
You could be said as an all in one art package, ever got a compliment like this and how do you feel about it?
I get that a lot actually. I am glad to hear that of course but I do what I love and when you love something you do it to the best of your ability and that’s what I try doing with art and photography.
Is a person born artistic or does he/she develops the skills as the time passes?
Personally I feel that a person is born an artist. Art is a thing that no one can learn and no one can teach. People can help and suggest what to draw and how to draw but art is more than a technique of drawing stuff. I think some parts of art can be learned like drawing but painting and other stuff is a talent that one is born with.
How long have you been drawing, painting or doing any sort of art for?
Art has been a part of my life since I was a little girl, I actually don’t even remember how long has it been since I fell in love with art.

I remember taking my little camera to school trips and family gatherings. Later on in my amateur photography life my father would teach me how to get the best of pictures and always encouraged me to get bigger and better in this art form.
What type of photography attracts you the most?
I love taking pictures of landscapes and my main goal is to keep this natural beauty under its own lights and in the most artistic way possible so that my audience can share these unique moments that mother nature offers. There is this evolution in my craft first it was just photography but my images told a story. With videography I am able to tell stories with motion. I am very fortunate to utilize photography motion and audio in my work.

D.O.B: 21 September 1990
Favorite quote: Beta gari le jaao - My mother
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I'm an aspiring musician from Islamabad. I sing, write my own songs, play guitar, compose and produce music for myself and other musicians. That's pretty much it!
Inspirations?
Many musicians inspire me, both western and eastern. To name a few, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, John Mayer, Led Zeppelin, Pantera.
Being a musician was it a dream?
Music is what I have always wanted to do. I feel lucky to be living my dream today.
You recently released two songs; both of them got a lot of appreciation. While you were in studios and were working on them were you expecting this kind of response from people?
Honestly, I never thought the response would be this great, especially my second single 'Pind' was very experimental. Though I did put in a lot of hardwork, so I hoped it will turn out good. However, the response was tremendous and i am really thankful to all my fans for their support.
Out of sapne and pind which song were you expecting would have been on the charts?
As a musician, I gave both of my songs my best but appearently 'Pind' received more acclaim.
Two songs, completely unique what made you write these songs?
Both songs were driven by the circumstances at the time that I was writing these songs. 'Sapne' was the outcome of post-2010 bombings and target killings accross the country and so it speaks for the people who lost their loved in such incidents. While 'Pind' on the other hand was written earlier this year and the idea was very simple, to walk my listeners through my pind.

Hunar Womem Entrepreneur Fashion Show and Exhibition

A great event to experience, really nicely done by Hunar creatives. A well managed fashion show with a touch of a live performance by a local band took place in Kuch Khas on 13th of April. There was great atmosphere and toppping it up with clouds and cold breeze. Some famous and renowned artist/writer/storyteller were a part of this event namely MRS.NIGAR,who was also the chief guest for the evening.

Starting of with the host who was full of gupshup, masti and a spice of laughter, the models resembling beautiful butterflies with pretty charming looks, the designers from all over pakistan were there to showcase their work with great artwork and catchy creativeness on clothes, the audience cheering up and supporting every model and designer and of course how can we forget the media fully charged and freezing every single moment of the evening in their cameras!! A great round of applause for Hunar Entrepreneur Pakistan for making this event a memorable one, for providing the new talent a platform and for making people aware of their goals and good cause minds!

Favorite quote: Insaan apni shakal se nahi, apnay kaam se pehchana jata hai
Inspirations: My Parents
Study/professional background: Graduate from UofT. Aiming for Graduate school
You are the president of PSA UTM tell us a bit about yourself and PSA. What is PSA and what is its purpose etc?
PSA is a student group that aims to socially engage Pakistani Students from different colleges and universities in an attempt to bring out the Pakistani culture together in a foreign land. We try to bring together students in different types of events, which allows us to network with them while also allowing the students to meet fellow Pakistani students. With that being said, PSA also aims to promote the cultures and traditions of Pakistan in a way where we are not forcing it upon our members but having them embrace it and respect it.
What is needed to be the president of PSA UTM?
Being President of PSA is a fulltime job. I worked several years as an executive of the club before being chosen to become president. To be a PSA president or a president of any club for that matter, one needs to have a vision and be ready for innovation. Change is what we strive upon in this world and as the president of PSA, setting standards is important making sure that you are leading by example. That is the first thing needed to be a president. However, I have always believed that one man cannot bring change, it has to be through a combined effort and I am lucky enough to work with people who understand my vision and help me achieve that.
Do you let PSA effect your studies and how do you manage your studies, work and PSA altogether?
At one point, PSA did have an impact on my studies and work, but it is really critical to maintain a balance that I was able to do throughout my university days. Managing your time is key to a successful combination of doing everything you want and I am glad I have always been able to manage and prioritize my time right.
If someone wants to join PSA UTM then what do they have to do?
Joining PSA is not the hardest thing to do out there. but we do expect everyone to volunteer with us, get to know our organization and how it works. Then they are elected to become executives and become part of the team. we are always welcoming to bright young Pakistanis who wish to become a part of our team.

Kharaj (Interview)

Band name: Kharaj
Band members and their positions: Usman Ahmad Khan [Vocalist/ Guitarist / Song writer] Saqib Nasir [Drummer / Percussionist ] Qaisar Shakeel [Bassist]
One quote that inspires you all? People haven't always been there for us but music always has.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
We are one of the pioneer progressive rock bands from Islamabad with a profile of playing hundreds of live concerts locally as well as internationally. It was the year 2007 when we formally started recording our debut album, which we plan on releasing worldwide this fall. Till date we have released three music videos and five original singles from the album.
Inspirations?
Led Zeppelin, Nickleback, Dream Theater, Guns & Roses, Pantera and the list goes on etc.
What are your hopes for the near future?
We hope to release the album which is called ‘AAG’. We also hope to play lot more shows.
How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
It’s been 10 years since we know each other. We were all class mates back then.
If you guys were to describe yourself in simple word choice. What would you say?
Heavy yet melodic. Honestly we follow no genre as musicians. We play and listen to what sounds good to our ears.
Do you guys have any other hobbies besides, obviously, making music?
We are born musicians. Music is not a hobby! Usman Ahmad Khan (vocalist) is a graphic designer, director and a photographer. He is a permanent band member of another Islamabad based band SATURN aswell and play guitars in it. Kaisar Shakeel (bassist) is a photographer aswell. Both of them do it professionally. Lastly, Saqib Nasir (Drummer), is an iphone guru and sleeps all day long. Both Kaisar and Saqib are members of a Gospel band called Hosanna aswell.

Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?
We admire everybody who is doing music or any kind of art. They are all contributing in their own special ways.
Your song Main kaun ho, one of the best song of yours. While you were in studio working on that track what was on everyone’s mind?

Intishaar Attemps to "Tharkify" you. And Manages to Succeed!

It’s every day that everybody, specifically Pakistani new artists, keep coming up with unique material. And it’s not every day some of it is actually good. In this race to make themselves stand out, the artists have seem to forgotten that it may be about being unique, but in the end it all comes down to your music and your song. Pakistani underground artists really need to focus on this. Be unique, no one’s telling them not to, but be good.

I recently heard the song “Tharki” by the band Intishaar. My first impression of it was that must be one of those attempts to be cool and I was ready to be disappointed. And indeed I was disappointed; the song is actually good! And the best thing about it is, that it reflects the true meaning if “Tharki-pann” in a really fun way. The song has a tharki telling us about his life. It explains what a tharki looks like, how they think, how they feel, how they work and how they “hunt.” It’s actually a pretty bold attempt at highlighting a negative aspect of our society that everyone seems to talk about but don’t admit.  This song is an eye opener and happens to do it with a beautiful sense of humor. Much needed nowadays.
