Your sense of style?
I would say my style is more Rocker Chic mixed with a bit of anything else that catches my attention (and other’s attention too)! I definitely love the black leather jackets, spikes, high heels, studded leggings/jeans and crazy earrings! Accessory wise, I don’t like to wear too much. As I mentioned before I like the crazy earrings and, depending on how I feel I may add a giant ring on one hand.
Brand freak or street smart?
I have never been one to be interested, so to speak, in brand names. When I go shopping, I really don’t care what store I am in, whether it be name brand or not, but if something catches my eye, that’s what I would end up buying. I guess it’s my mother’s doing. She always told me as a kid, “It doesn’t matter where you purchase your clothes so long as you like it and it looks damn good on you”!

Iqra & Zaynab have caught everyone's attention in a small span of time. Their classic cuts, chic designs is what sets them apart. Gorgeous jumpsuits and palazzo pants that are a must have in every fashionista's wardrobe. 

Tell us a little about yourselves. Who are Iqra and Zaynab?
Basically Iqra & Zaynab are two 21 year old best friends who are currently studying English Literature and Marketing. Iqra happens to be the literary one, somehow managing to bring the poetic element within the designs whereas, Zaynab manages to target market, design and make strategies. This way together they make the perfect duo where one's quality helps the other.
How did you two merge? What`s the story behind the name "Iqra and Zaynab"
We were and are best friends, so you know how we merged together. After a recent visit to Turkey, Jumpsuits has been one thing we preferred to focus on for starters. As long as brand name is concerned, we realised it's best to keep the brand name original and simple. Iqra & Zaynab, that is who we are, so Iqra & Zaynab it is. 

The Evolution of Shalwar Kameez since 2006

Remember those fluffy sleeves your mum would wear during the late eighties? or the extremely loose and long kameez during the nineties? The national dress of Pakistan has gone through so many changes over the years that it is hard to remember them all. What happens now is that every new style I tell my mum about gets a reply "Ohh yes, this was in fashion during your mamu's/my wedding.

Therefore I bring you a little memory down the lane. A little reminiscing about what were the trends since 2006. How the dress has gone through drastic changes in seven years only! Ready for the roller coaster ride? One, two, three, LEGO!


2006- EXTREMELY short kameez with patiala shalwar

haha how many of you remember this? I remember how I wanted as short as possible kameez. A kameez could be made from any left over piece of cloth. And also, everything a girl would just bend a little, everyone would get a glimpse the shalwar's crotch part *flinches*. Hope this fashion does not make a comeback anytime soon.

Shammal Qureshi (Interview)

When and where were you born, and where were you schooled?

I was born in Karachi August 9^th 1982, the year of the dog in the Chinese calendar. I’m a Leo. I went to CAS when I was a kid, and then I was in Bay View High. After that I went to Le’cole in Karachi, and finally I was in the UWO (University of Western Ontario) in Canada. After that I got my hairdressing training from London at the T&G New Oxford Street Academy. I was there for three years, though my education was only 1 year. After that I worked two years at [the] T&G Salon in Sloane Square.

       When did you first realize you wanted to become a hair stylist and how did you start it?

I was in London with my mother and father and I remember we were walking around Christopher place. And I saw some really cool looking guys and girls walk out onto the street. One of them turned around and she had Toni&Guy on her T-shirt and I just casually said, you know, why don’t I become a hair stylist. My mum turned to me and said, ‘Why not.” That was that.

       What do your parents do and what was your family life like?

I grew up with a Malaysian mother and a Pakistani father in a very open minded family setting. As well as them being my parents I always regarded them as friends too.  I was quite rebellious growing up and my parents always had the patience to deal with me. I have one sister and we’re very close.

Tell a bit about yourself Alina?
I can summarize who I am in three words: fun, hyper and crazy.

How did you get in this field of modeling?
Modelling was something i always wanted to know since i was a little girl. I loved dressing up and posing for camera.You know the part where you feel you are a celebrity kinda thing. So when I moved to Lahore i was approached by 'Toni n Guy' and from there i got recognized.

Any inspiration(model)?
Lets just say i inspired myself.

What is fashion for you?
Fashion for me is anything that is comfortable,classy and makes you look and feel good about yourself.There is a fine difference between being fashionable and provocative.

What do you think fashion will be in a year or so?
Fashion is not constant.We have a different style different year.It just keeps getting better and bigger.

Who are your favortie models? (also males if you have any favorites of them)
I am a huge fan of Adriana Lima, Shes absolutely breath taking.She sets the ramp on fire.

Who are your favorite designers?
I am not a very designer person,but if i had to choose one that would undoubtedly be HSY.

What kind of clothes belongs in your wardrobe?
Formal shirts,kurtas and plaid.Have been a tom boy all my life.

I am very simple and straight forward girl.

How did you get in this field of modeling?

I Had a passion of modeling and acting since my childhood, i did not decide to join showbiz as a profession,one day i saw an add on a website they needed models for there upcoming fashion show,i sent my pics to them and they called me for auditions and unfortunately i got selected and it was a wonderful experience for me, after my first show I decided to join this field as a profession,and now I am on my way with a lot of dreams to get more and more success in this field.

Any inspiration(model)?

Mehreen Syed is my inspiration.

What is fashion for you?

For me the importance of style and fashion in today's society is much underrated.The way that you look and dress is the first impression that people have of you.In order to give people a good first impression,you need to be dressed in a way that suites your style and does not look sloppy or messy,but one that does compliment you. Personal style is a great way to express who you are and what you stand for.You can have fun with your own fashion statement but you should try and shy away from being too bold or it will make your outfit look like a costume.

The CROCS,This modern day version of wooden clogs can only be described as abhorrent.I don’t care if they are so comfortable that you feet have orgasms wearing them, this plastic moulded work of Satan should never be seen in public & Emo fashion has placed number 1 in my lamest fashion list for the past decade. The emo movement was in it’s infancy in the 90’s but it wasn’t until the noughties that being a whiny little bitch with follicle impaired vision went mainstream.

Abdullah Ijaz.
You got featured in Young stunners video which went viral, when YS first approached you what your're reaction and what was your reaction when the video was going viral all over Pakistan?
Haha, It was a wonderful moment, I was happy when Talhah Yunus approached me for that video :)
